Upcycling
Or rather using something simple and cheap to make something better, defiantly going to think about doing this to my simple crockery.  And this on my tumblers (ha, tumblers!)   Anyway, there are some very nice and simple ways of giving a radical and pretty folkarty/nieve look to your pieces.
